Small Business of the Year Finalists Announced

PITTSBURG, KANSAS -

The Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and BKD, LLP have announced the finalists for the 2015 Small Business of the Year Award. Based upon evidence of successful operations, as well as significant contributions to the community, the following businesses have been recognized as finalists for the award:

  • The Finishing Touch
  • Laura's Fitness & Beauty
  • Roto Rooter Sewer

“These finalists exemplify what it means to be a successful small business,” said Devin Gorman, Pittsburg Area Chamber vice president of operations. “They are highly visible, active businesses in our community, and each one is deserving of this distinction.”

The finalists were selected by a nomination review committee, and over the next week the committee will conduct interviews with each of the finalists. The winner of the 2015 Small Business of the Year Award will be announced at the chamber's Annual Banquet on May 21.

    11 people, including five children escaped from an overnight house fire in Joplin.  The two-story fire on the corner of South 19th and Seargent erupted into flames around three o’clock this morning.  A total of four trucks worked to put out the flames, but nearly two hours later those flames were still burning strong.  Six adults and five children were in the home and escaped uninjured.  One of the family members says they had three space heaters running and ...More >>
