Press Release MSSU:

Missouri Southern men's basketball coach Jeff Boschee has announced the signing of Brady Petry to a national letter of intent to attend Southern and play basketball beginning in the fall of 2015.

Petry, a 6-3 shooting guard, hails from Springfield, Mo., where he prepped at Hillcrest High School for coach Tomas Brock.

A three-time letter winner and two-year starter for the Hornets, Petry helped Hillcrest to the Missouri Class 4 State Championship Title game this season, where he scored 35 points and pulled down ten rebounds in the game, going 7-9 from long range.

An All-State pick this year, Petry led his team in points, steals, rebounds, and blocks as a senior. He holds the state championship record for most three's hit in a title game. During his career, Petry helped lead Hillcrest to three district, two sectional, two quarterfinal and two second-place finishes.

Petry was also named the MoHawk Player of the Year as the Most Valuable Player in the city of Springfield. Petry is the son of Tony and Michelle Petry and plans to major in sports management at Southern.

"Brady is a very skilled basketball player that can really score in a variety of ways," Boschee said. "He had a very impressive state tourney run to lead his team to the state championship game.  We are very excited to add Brady to our MSSU basketball family."

MSSU Avoids Million Dollar Fine By Tweaking Its Tuition Increase

Tuition is still going up at Missouri Southern State University, but it's tweaking the cost increase to credit hours to avoid a state fine. Missouri Southern's Board of Governors approved a 15 percent increase in student tuition last April, upping credit hours by $30. But state education law doesn't allow tuition increases beyond the consumer price index. To avoid a $1.1 million fine, MSSU adjusted down the tuition increase to $20 more per credit.
