People From Far & Wide Flock to Neosho for Garage Sale

Updated:
Neosho's population skyrockets as people flock to Missouri's largest garage sale.

It's a money making day not just for citizens but the city too as out of towners come to shop and eat while in Neosho. Some even spending the night in hotels.

People from as far away as Wisconsin go door to door, mining through odds and ends, to find hidden treasures for sale at Neosho's City Wide Garage Sale.

Many homeowners were not only looking to get rid of old items and buy new ones, but were using the garage sale to raise money for their organizations like the Four State Search & Rescue.

"It's really great for everyone involved. The dogs get to meet and greet people which is really good for them as far as socialization. And we get to interact with the community, let people know that we're out there, that we're trying to do a good thing in a time of need,” says Canine Handler Bryan Patrick.

Neosho garage seller Karanda Williams says "It does allow me to be able to purchase new items for my kids and get rid of things that we don't need anymore, rather than just having to throw it away. You spend money on an outfit and you get a season's worth of use out of it. And you're having to buy a whole new one. And you can buy used ones at half the price and you get rid of your old ones and not have to just trash them or store them.”

Today's early, wet weather played to shoppers benefit, many items were marked down by half.

This is Neosho's 27th sale.
