Bikers Ride to Raise Money for McDonald County After School Program

Updated:
PINEVILLE, MISSOURI - Bikers took advantage of the warm weather riding from Pineville to Noel to raise money for a new after school care program.

About thirty bikers left Kozy Camp in Pineville this morning for a poker run. They're raising money for a new after school care program to be called the Point of View Community Center.

The coordinator hopes to provide a safe haven for kids to go after school to keep them busy, also offering help with homework, and fun activities like weekly archery and dance.

She says there's a big need in McDonald County for more after school enrichment

“There really isn't anything. The high school has most of the activities but for the junior high and elementary school age, there really are not that many activities and they have tutoring but outside of that I'm not aware of anything else since that's where we come up and we kind of want to fill in those gaps where they're missing in,” says POVCC President KayCee Hunter.

This is one of many fundraisers for the after school care program. KayCee hopes to raise about $15,000 so she can open the non-profit community center in time for the next school year.
