K-103 reconstruction begins @ Weir

Updated:
WEIR, KANSAS -

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has started a project to reconstruct K-103 (Main Street) from Lincoln Street to Jefferson Street inside the city of Weir.

The first phases of the project involved installing storm sewer pipes on city side streets. The project has moved to the K-103 reconstruction phase, which includes grading, surfacing and the placement of new pavement markings. K-103 at Weir is closed to through traffic, with a short signed detour on Dreher, Catalpa and Madison streets.

The K-103 project is part of KDOT's Geometric Improvement Program. B & B Bridge Company, LLC, of St. Paul, Kan., is the primary contractor. The cost of construction is $583,321. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September, weather permitting.

Persons with questions concerning the project may contact Bob Gudgen, area construction engineer with KDOT-Pittsburg, at (620) 231-7560, or Priscilla Petersen at 1-877-550-5368. This highway expansion project is funded under the T-WORKS transportation program. For additional information concerning T-WORKS visit the website, www.ksdot.org/tworks.
