Con-way Salutes Veterans with New Patriotic Trucks

Updated:
Joplin's largest employer salutes veterans, Con-Way truck load unveils two new shiny red, white, and blue editions to its fleet.

“I was awestruck. That's awesome. It's going to be to drive,” says Tomy Fox.

Vietnam veteran Tomy Fox has been driving for Con-Way the last sixteen years and was blown away by the new set of wheels.

“It represents a chance for the company, and I'm included, to thank the veterans for their service past and present. And I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help that along,” says Fox.

Out of the 2,900 drivers the company employs, 15% of them are veterans and the company is looking to reaffirm its commitment to those who've served.

"We want to hire military veterans. And we want to bring them on as part of our team. And what better way to do that than have a moving billboard,” says Con-Way Military Advocate Joshua Landers.

Values like teamwork, loyalty, and dedication the mayor and the company's president say makes veterans an asset to the Con-way team.

“They provide the right values, and the right basises, for the things we need to drive the company forward,”

Fox was chosen out of a hundred veterans nominated to drive the new trucks which will be used on routine runs and will be reserved for special military outreach missions.

“It makes me feel good that the companies are appreciating what we've done and what we can do for 'em,” says Fox.
