K-47 resurfacing starts May 19th

Updated:
CHANUTE, KANSAS -

Tuesday, May 19, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) expects to begin a resurfacing project on K-47 in Neosho County. The 4½-mile project will start at St. Paul and continue west to the U.S. 59 south junction.

The work consists of a 1-inch mill and 1-inch asphalt overlay. Flaggers and a pilot car will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone, with delays of 15 minutes or less expected during daylight hours. Weather permitting, the road work should be completed by May 22.

KDOT awarded SE-KAN Asphalt Services of Gas, Kan., the construction contract of $433,551. Bob Gudgen, construction engineer at the KDOT Pittsburg office, reminds drivers to obey the signs and flaggers and use extra caution in the work zone. Persons with questions concerning the project may contact Gudgen at (620) 231-7560 or Priscilla Petersen at 1-877-550-5368. The project is funded under the T-WORKS transportation program. For additional information concerning T-WORKS visit the website, www.ksdot.org/tworks.
