40 Pitt State Track Athlete Earn MIAA Academic Honors

Forty members of the Pittsburg State University track & field squads – 22 women and 18 men – earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll recognition for the 2014-15 season. Additionally, five of those Gorillas also received the MIAA Scholar Athlete Award.


To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

The MIAA Scholar Athlete Award is given to those who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms, and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, earn All-MIAA honors.

Newcomers (freshmen and transfers) and MIAA Academic Excellence Awards (4.00 cumulative GPAs) will be given out following the end of the 2014-15 school year.

Senior Jessica Macy (3.84, English), juniors Cassie Caswell (3.62, nursing) and Hannah DeVries (4.00, biology) and sophomores Emilyn Dearman (3.63, exercise science) and Heather Glenn (4.00, nursing) all garnered MIAA Scholar Athlete Award recognition.

Pitt State women earning MIAA Academic Honor Roll honors were: D'Andria Blow, Olivia Boone, Caswell, Shannon Danaher, Dearman, Paige Denton, Hannah DeVries, Cate Dunn, Glenn, Carlin Greene, Alyssa Hammons, Macy, Alex Moase, Aimi Orton, Shanise Rice, Conner Schultz, Deja Snell, McKenzie Spresser, Darien Stancell, Paige White, Megan Wickersham and Chandler Wilson.

Pitt State men earning MIAA Academic Honor Roll honors were: Ren Bean, Hunter Blount, Austin Bogina, Preston Coffman, Shane Cote, Adam Farnow, Bo Farrow, Darryl Holland, Tanner McNutt, Jordan Peters, Jeff Piepenbrink, Casey Steinmiller, Joseph Talbert, Talon Thompson, Tony Weiss, Brody Wild, Brian Wright and Anthony Yates.
