Press Release PSU:

Pittsburg State head volleyball coach Jenny Mueller is pleased to announce the hiring of Skye Wade as assistant volleyball coach for the Gorillas.

Wade comes to Pittsburg after four years as the head volleyball coach at Houston High School in Houston, Mo. In addition to coaching the volleyball team and developing their strength and conditioning program, she coordinated the strength and conditioning programs for nine other sports. She helped to develop Houston's first youth volleyball program.

Wade was a four-year starter with the William Woods volleyball team in Fulton, Mo., playing for Mueller before she came to Pittsburg State. As a senior in 2009, Wade helped the Owls to a 29-7 record, the second best record in school history. Personally she tied the school record for digs per set with 6.43 while earning AVCA and NAIA All-America honors. She was ranked No. 5 in the NAIA in digs per set. She earned first-team America Midwest Conference honors, as well as being named the AMC Libero of the Year. As a freshman, she earned AMC Freshman of the Year honors. She earned Academic All-AMC honors for three seasons.

"I'm very excited to add Skye Wade to the Gorilla coaching staff," Mueller said. "As one of the two All-American players I have had the privilege to coach Skye consistently showed an innate ability to lead. I looked to her as a coach on the court and her competitive drive was addictive within her teams. Her experience playing under me, in addition to her experience as a head coach, will aid in a seamless transition as she already knows the style of play I train and my coaching philosophy. Skye was a fierce competitor on the court and I look forward to that fiery passion translating into her new coaching role here at Pitt State."
