JRAC & Joplin Blasters team up for event

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

Joplin Regional Artists Coalition (JRAC) and the Joplin Blasters baseball team have partnered to bring baseball and art together with a unique opportunity for JRAC Members. During the opening weekend of the Blasters season (May 21 to 24, 2015) artists will be allowed into the ball park to plein air create (paint, draw, create in the stands). Works created during this weekend will then hang in the sky suites and different parts of the stadium during the season.

“We are excited to have artists set up during the baseball games drawing and painting right there for the public to see,” comment JRAC President Sarah Serio. “It's not often that you'll see a live demonstration of the creation of art while you are at a baseball game.”

At the end of the season "Art In the Ballpark" will be held. This event will feature live music, food and drinks, and a chance to own the art that is being created. JRAC members will create Joplin Blasters and baseball themed works for the event.

“This is a great chance for area artists to bring original works of art to an audience that might not feel comfortable in a gallery situation. Art is for everyone,” Serio added.

Awards will be presented to the artists for first, second, and third place plus Blasters Favorite and a Fan Favorite at the end of the season.

Ticket's for “Art In The Ballpark” will go on sale in June at www.joplinblasters.com
