Press Release MSSU:

Missouri Southern junior righty Cody Hutchinson was named a third-team All-America selection, while junior designated hitter Jesse Rall and junior utility player Chris Hoffman earned honorable mention honors as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced its All-America team today.

Hutchinson led the MIAA in wins this season and was third in earned run average as he finished 10-1 on the season with a 2.87 ERA, seven complete games, 88 strikeouts and only 20 walks. He also was tied for the league-lead in complete games. He was a first-team All-Region pick on three different ballots.

Rall led the team in home runs (16) and RBIs (61) this season and he ranked third in the league in both home runs and home runs per game, third in RBIs and second in slugging. He tied the single-season home run record at MSSU and also ranks 15th nationally in home runs and 22nd in slugging. Rall was an All-Region selection on three different ballots.

Chris Hoffman was one of the most complete players in the MIAA this year. He led the league and the Lions with a .430 batting average, while ranking second in the MIAA in total hits. Not to be done as a hitter, Hoffman was also a member of the Lions' weekend rotation this year, going 4-1 with a 4.19 ERA in five starts. He had two complete games, while striking out 25 and walking just five. He is a semi-finalist for the Tino Martinez Award, which is given annually to Division II's top player. Hoffman was an All-Region pick on two different ballots.
