Water rescue in Crawford County, Kansas

On May 25, 2015 at 0205 hours, Deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff Department were dispatched to the area approximately one-half mile west of 70th St on 520th Ave to a report of a vehicle that had been swept off the road by swift water over the roadway. Deputies, along with Osage Township Fire Department and Crawford County EMS, resonded to the area.


Authorities located  a 1993 Jeep Wrangler submerged in water off of the roadway. A passenger, Matthew Gath of McCune, had managed to escape the water after being stranded for some time and went to a nearby residence to call for help. The driver, Terry R Gath of McCune, and two other passengers, Terry L Gath of Scranton, AR and Rebecca Gath of Altamont, were stranded with the vehicle. Crawford County EMS deployed the swift water rescue team and were able to bring the stranded individuals to saftey.

Rebecca Gath was transported by EMS to Via Christi Hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation by the Crawford County Sheriff Department.

Police spotted 41-year-old Cory D. Reynolds Monday afternoon (April 23) around 3:00 at his home near 9th and Chestnut. Authorities say he jumped into a vehicle and drove off.     The new Joplin professional baseball team has a name. Joplin, MO – The Southwest League of Professional Baseball has announced that the new Joplin professional team will be called the Joplin "Miners".     A former Pittsburg Police Officer is sentenced today for aggravated battery. 22-year-old Jesse Davis of Carthage, MO was arrested for an incident that happened on August 26th, 2017. According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Davis and another officer responded to a domestic disturbance in Pittsburg where a male and female were involved in an altercation.
