Olmstead wins "Best News Anchor"

TELEVISION CITY -

FOX 14's Mike Olmstead was recognized as “Best News Anchor” by the Missouri Broadcasters Association at its annual convention on Saturday June 6th at the Tan Tara Resort at Lake of the Ozarks. Olmstead is the Executive Producer/Anchor of FOX 14 News at 9.

“I am truly honored and humbled by this recognition,” said Olmstead. ”I could not be happier doing what I love to do in a part of the country that I'm blessed to call my home away from home.”

Olmstead joined FOX 14 in 2011, returning to the 4-State area from WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky. Olmstead produces and anchors the hour-long FOX 14 News at 9, the only locally-produced primetime newscast in the 4-State area. Its viewership levels consistently rank near the top of the stations in the Joplin/Pittsburg television market.

“Honestly, I wasn't surprised to see Mike win this award,” said Darren Dishman, General Manager/Programming Director for FOX 14. “Those of us who know Mike and see his work ethic, professionalism and commitment to journalistic integrity day in and day out fully expected to see him receive this recognition,” added Dishman. “It is a tremendous honor for Mike and his award is well-deserved.”

“I will be forever grateful to the management here at KOAM/FOX14 for not only bringing me back to this market four years ago, but also allowing me the freedom and privilege of bringing our viewers the vital information they need, along with a smattering of entertainment, on a nightly basis,” said Olmstead.

This is the first year the MBA has presented its “Best News Anchor” award. Olmstead won in the Class III Television Division.
