Deaths of two women under investigation

The Monett Police Department is investigating the suspicious deaths of two women. On Saturday, 6/20/15 at about 5:53pm, officers responded to a 911 call at 519 E Scott Street. The caller was the victim's husband. He had returned home from work and found his wife deceased in the kitchen of the house. The cause of death is not readily apparent. The woman's name was Anna K. Smith, 37, of that address.

At approximately 6:04 PM, another 911 caller reporter a dead woman at 104 East Bond Street. When the officers arrived, they found a woman deceased in a bedroom. She was Tosha M. Norris, 25, of that address. The body was found in a bed covered with blankets. Again, no obvious cause of death.

The second 911 caller was Alexander Calhoun Jr., 35 of Monett. He and Tosha Norris were in a long term relationship. It was determined that Calhoun was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for Domestic Violence. Tosha Norris had been with victim in that case.

The investigating detectives learned that Calhoun had been with both woman on Saturday, He was arrested on the Domestic Violence warrant and a 24 hour investigation hold. Detectives will continue the investigation today.

Deputy Barry County Coroner Charlie McManus has ordered autopsies on the bodies of both woman to determine the cause of death.

    The Wyandotte Nation is searching for the next Chief of Police, according to the Wyandotte Tribe of Oklahoma. Ken Murphy has resigned his position as Chief of Police of the Wyandotte Nation Tribal Police Department (WNTPD) after serving in the position for nine years. Officer Faron Lee, who has served with the department for eleven years, will serve as Interim Police Chief.
