Veterans Ride in Poker Run to Support Fellow Veterans

Updated:

Veterans show support for fellow veterans riding from Oklahoma to Missouri and back at the 3rd annual “Bikes Blues and Boom” poker run.

Riders stopped at the Carthage VFW 2590 post about halfway through their journey for refreshments.

The four hundred riders also stopped in Joplin, Redings Mill, Noel, and Neosho along the way.

The event sponsored by Indigo Sky Casino and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association raises money for the Joplin CVMA Chapter 4-9 to help give back to veterans in the area.

Donna Johnson and her husband traveled from Phillipsburg, Missouri to show their support.

"We go to a lot of 'em because we support each other. It's veterans helping veterans and they're all fun, the fellowship and the camaraderie that we have with all the Missouri and the Oklahoma chapters and stuff is just fantastic it is,” say Johnson.

This is the first time the poker run has ever been blind. Riders didn't know the route until they got to each stop, picking up directions along the way.
