The Jasper County Fair begins this week. The fair is located in Carthage, Missouri. Below is a schedule of events.

Saturday, July 11

2:00 p.m. ..................Dog Show 

6:00 p.m....................Cavy/Guinea Pig Show 

Monday, July 13

5:00 p.m ………......…...Horse & Mule Show - Saddle Club Arena 

Tuesday, July 14 

5:30 p.m.....................Beautiful Baby Contest   (Entry form below)

6:00 p.m.....................Pageant 

7:00 p.m. ….....………...Rabbit Show - Rabbit barn

Wednesday, July 15

10:00 a.m.. ................Poultry Show 

12:30 p.m.. ............... Dairy Goat Show followed by the Boer Goat Show 

3:00 p.m.. ................. Exhibition Building open to public

 6:00 p.m. ..................Swine Show 

7:00 p.m. ................... Ice Cream sponsored by UMB

Thursday, July 16 

8:00 a.m. ...................Market Steer Show followed by Feeder Steer then Bull Show

noon ..........................Sheep Show followed Sheep Lead Line 

6:00 p.m. .................. Pee Wee Shows Order: Goat, Sheep, Bucket Calf, Swine,  & Poultry       

NEW THIS YEAR:  Following Pee Wee Show …..Herding Heroes (Special needs livestock show)

7:00 p.m.. ..................Watermelon Feed sponsored by SMB

7:30 p.m. ..................Pedal Tractor Pull (ages 2-10) sign up 7:15 p.m.

    Kansas Governor Concedes Defeat in GOP Race for Nomination

    The state of Kansas now has a Republican nominee for Governor. What has been a roller coaster primary between Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer and Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Colyer announced today he is conceding defeat and is endorsing Kobach. Kobach will face the Democratic nominee Laura Kelly.  Governor Colyer was elevated from his position after former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback took an ambassador's position.

    A Springfield man was indicted by a federal grand jury today (Aug 14, 2018) for making a bomb threat at a Veterans Affairs Clinic. 48-year-old Richard Leslie Turner III allegedly threatened to blow up the Community Based Outpatient Clinic located at 600 N. Main Street in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
