Survey to include six bridges on U.S. 166

Updated:
CHANUTE, KANSAS -

Starting Monday, July 20 and continuing for eight weeks, weather permitting, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will conduct a survey of six bridges and their associated approach roadways on U.S. 166 in Cherokee County. The bridges are Neosho River drainage structures. They are all located between ¼ of a mile and 2¼ miles east of the Labette-Cherokee county line.

The survey is taking place to gather information necessary for the future replacement of each bridge. The length of the survey area is five miles along the existing alignment of U.S. 166.

Activities will include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the corridor. A member of the survey crew will contact property owners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property. Michael Lindquist of the consultant firm Wilson & Company is in charge of this survey.

For more information contact Southeast District Public Affairs Manager Priscilla Petersen at 1-877-550-5368 (toll free).
