David Letterman had his Velcro wall.  Now second graders have a classroom outfitted with all kinds of stuff from the Velcro companies.

College Heights second grade teacher Desiree Limkeman won a classroom makeover after being nominated during National Teachers Week by a second grader.

On her wish list was a technology station. She was all smiles at the big reveal that included laptops and tablets, new tables, chairs and cubicles.  TV designer Sabrina Soto hung decorations using Velcro tape, even the pencil boxes are attached, saving all kinds of space in the classroom.

Soto says, "Not only does it look bright and fun but everything is mobile. I used a lot of Velcro products.  So cubicles are for kids nap sacks  and lunch boxes. But, I used sticky back coins to adhere them together and let’s say they have a ton of reading to do on the other side of the room. They can easily take them and use them for extra seating."

Limkeman says she is excited to have everything she needs fit in the room. "I would have never thought to take the white board off the wall and make it mobile that is very creative very creative,” she said.

The technology and furniture are valued at ten thousand dollars. And it will all be duplicated in the other second grade classroom so all the second grade students will have the same learning experience. That will make the donation from Velcro Companies about twenty thousand dollars.
