Neosho Man Rescued After Nearly Drowning in Shoal Creek

Updated:
Newton County, Missouri -

Sergeant Jason Pace with the Missouri Highway Patrol says a near drowning occurred at the “Lime Kiln” access to Shoal Creek North of Neosho.

That same area is where two men drowned Thursday. One was wading in the creek towards the dam, lost his footing, and disappeared after getting caught in the undercurrent. A friend who tried to save him also drowned.

In today's incident, troopers say 52 year old Kevin Everett of Neosho was swimming too near the dam and was pulled in by the hydraulics. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Freeman Hospital in Neosho.
