(3/11) Andrew Vaughan, 24, is facing charges of abuse or neglect of a child. Police say they responded to Mercy Hospital on a child abuse call. When authorities arrived, they saw the baby had bite marks on her shoulder as well as injuries to her ears and bruising on her stomach and face. The mother of the child said Vaughan was on of the last people to care for the child. Investigators say the bite marks indicate crooked teeth. Vaughan has crooked teeth, and that led to his arrest.

(3/6) Probable Cause: Andrew Vaughan

I was called to Mercy Hospital in Joplin MO in reference to a child abuse.  When I arrived I saw -- a nine month old baby.  As I walked in I could see the bite mark on -- left  shoulder.  The bite mark showed that they suspect had crooked teeth.  I then noticed several other injuries.  Both of -- ears were swollen and extremely red the left ear the skin was crack/split where the ear meets the head and if someone had tried to tear the ear off.  The right ear had similar injuries but not as severe as the left. -- had bruise on her stomach, both sides, her right side of her neck and under her chin, and both sides of her face. I noticed that the bite mark that was on -- left shoulder appeared to be of an adult.

I spoke to -- who stated that she picked -- up from Tiffany and Andrew Vaughan on the evening of 3/6/15.  -- stated that -- had swelling ears but not as bad as it was when I saw the injuries. -- state that after -- was home the injuries state to show more and that is when they called the police.  I asked -- who has been watching -- with crooked teeth and she replied that the only person with crooked teeth that has been in contact with -- was Andrew Vaughan.  --- stated that when they got to the hospital they were able to get the ear rings that --- had on out of her injured ears and the attack to her ear caused her earring to be bent.

I spoke with Andrew Vaughan that started he got angry at -- and bit her.  Andrew Vaughan stated that he also caused all the other injuries to --.  Then he stated that he didn't cause the bruises but did bite --.  Then he said again that he caused the bruises but wouldn't say how he caused the injuries.
