Mindenmines, Missouri celebrates "In God We Trust Day"

We attached a slideshow of today's "In God We Trust Day" celebration by the City of Mindenmines, Missouri. Dave Sorrick who owns In God We Trust LLC handed out coins and posters as part of the celebration. Today was also a ribbon cutting for Sorrick's coin shop.

Dave Sorrick, owner of In God We Trust LLC, has announced that the Barton County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting on Thursday, July 30 at Noon at their location at 609 and 611 Main, Mindenmines, MO. A dedication and Open House that day will mark the opening of business at the retail location of In God We Trust LLC, 609 Main. That is the former location of the Bank of Minden.

In God We Trust LLC is a wholesale and retail coin, currency and precious metals business and hosts the Second Tuesday Coin and Currency Auction and regional coin and hobby shows. July 30 will be proclaimed as "In God We Trust Day" by the City of Mindenmines and marks the 59th Anniversary of the signing of the public law designating In God We Trust as our national motto by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The public is invited to attend the event and free Eisenhower dollars will be distributed on a "first come, first served" basis as long as the supply lasts. 
In God We Trust LLC is a proud member of the Barton County Chamber of Commerce and Sorrick is a past member of their board of directors. He is a member of the Pittsburg, KS, Parsons, KS, Northwest Arkansas and Joplin, MO coin clubs. He serves as secretary for the Pittsburg Coin Club. Sorrick is a member of the Kansas Numismatic Association and is a Past-President of that club. Sorrick also holds membership in the Central States Numismatic Association. In 2005, he was an appointee of then Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to the Kansas Commemorative Coin Commission, charged with the design of the Kansas State Quarter.

    The Kansas Highway Patrol says one man is dead after a two-vehicle crash on U69 about two miles south of Pittsburg. It happened on August 20th, 2018 around 9:10 a.m. Authorities say 70-year-old Stephen Hite was driving a Ford Ranger south on U69. He was slowing to turn onto E. 510 Ave. and was rear-ended by a Chevy Malibu. Hite's truck overturned onto its roof. Both vehicles came to rest in the east ditch. Hite died at the scene.
