Senator Blunt to hold Health Care Town Hall Meeting - August 12th

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

Blunt believes every American deserves access to quality, affordable health care.  That's why he supports repealing the Affordable Care Act and replacing it with common-sense solutions that will improve health care for all Americans.

Blunt has a long history of supporting health care issues that reduce the rising cost of care and gives the support to medical professionals to provide the best care possible to patients.  Recently Blunt introduced the Health Care Safety Net Enhancement Act which would provide liability protection to emergency physicians who treat patients under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) federal mandate in emergency departments. This legislation would help to reduce health care costs.

Blunt has also been a strong supporter of common sense reforms to the current Recovery Audit Contract (RAC) system. Blunt supports reforming the current bounty hunter structure into a system that encourages auditors to pursue genuine waste, fraud, and abuse in the Medicare program.

Blunt introduced the bipartisan Excellence in Mental Health Act, which will significantly strengthen our nation's mental health services by expanding access to community mental health treatment and improving the quality of care for those individuals and their families living with mental illness. This legislation, which was signed into law in April 2014, puts mental health centers on more equal footing with other health centers by improving quality standards and expanding access.

The Town Hall Meeting will take place @ Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. It will begin at 1:15 PM.
