(Press Release from Neosho PD)

At approximately 1:47 p.m. August 12, Neosho Police Officers were dispatched to Car Mart at 311 South Neosho Blvd in reference to a male subject attempting to steal a vehicle from the parking lot.

It was also reported that the male subject lunged towards car lot personnel in order to take the vehicle.  Upon the officers’ arrival the vehicle and suspect were leaving the parking lot traveling northbound on Neosho Boulevard.  Neosho officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, it failed to stop. A pursuit ensued through Neosho and into some residential areas.  The suspect later pulled into Freeman Neosho Hospital and Neosho Police requested the hospital go on lock down for safety measures until the suspect could be taken into custody.  A 27-year-old white male from Afton, Oklahoma was arrested.

The suspect’s name is being withheld at this time until formal charges are filed by the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office.

The vehicle was processed on scene and released back to Car Mart.
