Main Street closures & Trolley stops relocations during weekend announced

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

With the downtown area hosting Zerkapalooza this weekend, areas of Main Street will be closed at various times Friday afternoon through Saturday night.
On Friday, August 21, Main Street will be closed from 1st Street to 7th Street, starting at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. During this time, 2nd Street will remain open for east and west traffic.

On Saturday, August 22, Main Street will be closed from "C" Street to 4th Street. This closure is from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will not be any Main Street access from the adjacent streets throughout the day.

Due to the closures, the Sunshine Lamp Trolley has announced several relocations of stops in the downtown area. These include:
Friday: Library stop is moved to the Economic Security Office, at the southwest corner of 3rd and Joplin Avenue; and City Hall stop will be at Empire District building on the southwest corner of 6th and Joplin Avenue. (These relocations are the same as those established during Third Thursday events.)
Saturday: Trolley stop set at 2nd and Main Street will be moved to 3rd and Virginia Avenue. The Library stop will again move to the Economic Security Office, at the southwest corner of 3rd and Joplin Avenue. Other Trolley stops along the route are not affected.
Citizens seeking access to the Joplin Post Office at 1st and Main Street on Saturday morning are asked to please park in the City's parking lot at 2nd and Virginia and walk to the Post Office.

We encourage everyone to please use caution while in the downtown area during these times and to enjoy the Zerkapalooza event. For more information about this event, please go to zerkapalooza.com/
