Counterfeit arrests made in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, KANSAS -

On Monday morning, August 31, 2015 Law Enforcement Officers from the Pittsburg Police Department arrested three individuals while serving an arrest warrant at the Super 8 hotel, located at 3108 N Broadway St, Pittsburg.  Officers were able top locate the wanted person following an anonymous tip from a member of the public. 

30 year old Chelsea Nicole Hackett, of Joplin was arrested on several outstanding warrants out of the State of Missouri and for felony interference with law enforcement Hackett was arrested shortly after she attempted to escape through a second story window of the hotel in an effort to avoid apprehension by law enforcement.   Additionally, 30 year old Latoya Nichole Jones, of Joplin, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and for felony interference with law enforcement and 25 year old old Shinika Dawn Martin of Joplin was arrested on felony interference with law enforcement. 


The arrest of Hackett became a priority for local law enforcement following her identification as a prime suspect in numerous counterfeit currency and fraud investigations in Kansas and Missouri.  Investigators from the Pittsburg Police Department, the Joplin Police Department and Carthage Police Department identified Hackett as the prime suspect, ad through cooperative efforts were able to concentrate investigative resources which led to her arrest.


Following the arrest, investigators of the Pittsburg Police Department served a search warrant at a room in the hotel, which yielded counterfeit currency as well as numerous other items indicative of identity and bank fraud. The investigation is ongoing.
