CHEROKEE COUNTY, KANSAS -

FROM CHEROKEE COUNTY SHERIFF

Just prior to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, along with the Galena Fire Department and Cherokee County Ambulance Service, were dispatched to a crash just outside of Galena City Limits on K-66 Highway / West 7th Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Robby McCumber, 19, of Galena, was operating a motorcycle, pulled out of a private drive and was struck by a 2010 Buick, driven by 72 year-old Elijah Touchton, of Pittsburg.

McCumber was transported to a Joplin hospital and was pronounced dead.

Touchton, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was also transported to a Joplin area hospital as a precautionary measure.
