Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

The Empire District Electric Company will interrupt service to approximately 3,500 customers in the Columbus and Scammon, Kansas, area on Sunday, September 27, 2015 beginning at 1:00 a.m. and lasting approximately four hours. Customers should be aware these times are approximations and the outage could be postponed or extended due to weather or equipment issues.

Areas affected include Columbus, Scammon, West Mineral, Weir and Sherman City. Power will be restored in increments as the work is accomplished.

This scheduled outage is necessary to allow crews to safely energize and complete the move to a newly constructed substation near Columbus. The new facility will enhance service reliability for Empire customers.
