All-Out Gas War in Columbus, KS

Updated:
COLUMBUS, KANSAS -

Gas stations in Columbus have been dropping prices like it's no tomorrow, going head to head in an all-out gas war. Fuel prices at Casey's and Quick Shop were at the bargain price of $1.26 earlier this afternoon. Around 2pm both ran out of gas. But Casey's quickly refueled their pumps and cars were backed up down the street. Drivers at Quick Shop eagerly held their spot for at least an hour waiting for the gas to be replenished.

"They should be prepared for something like this before they even done it, because they knew what they was going to do.,” says Lawton resident Leslie Irwin.

"My plan is hopefully to stay until they get it here and fill up my son's car, go back and get mine and maybe fill up mine too,” says Galena, KS resident Tonia Diaz.

"Well they don't have gas now, but I’ll probably come back later, because you know that's a great price,” says Columbus resident Blake Scraper.

Shop workers tell us the two have been at it for the last couple years. The average price of regular gasoline in Kansas is $2.17, down 11 cents from the national average.
