Joplin resident charged with child molestation following investigation

JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

A Joplin resident is in custody following an investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives of allegations of sexual assault that took place in the Walker area. According to Sheriff’s Office Officials, a warrant for the arrest of Freddy T Diaz, 28 of Joplin was issued by the 28th Judicial Circuit Court on October 6, 2015 charging Diaz with Statutory Sodomy – 1st Degree – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person less than 14 years old, and Child Molestation – 1st Degree. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, Diaz was taken into custody in Webb City on Wednesday and then transported to the Vernon County Jail. Sheriff Mosher said he could not release any other details of the incident at this time but said Diaz was being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
