Maple Leaf Royalty Announced

The Carthage Chamber of Commerce, Maple Leaf Committee and the community of Carthage and Jasper County would like to offer congratulations to the 49th Annual Maple Leaf royalty. 

Contestants from newborns to age 24 months competed in pageants during the day on Saturday, October 10th. The winners of Saturday afternoon's Maple Leaf pageants included Toddler Girl Gianna Maynard-Rivas, Toddler Boy Sebastian Maggard and Baby Easton Wheeler. The baby pageant was sponsored by Mercy Hospital and the toddler pageant was sponsored by Freeman Hospital.

The Maple Leaf Queen pageant, sponsored by Hometown Bank and MadStyle Salon was held on Sunday, October 11th. Allison Peterson was named Maple Leaf Queen. Ms. Peterson is a Carthage High School student who plans to study business administration and Spanish in college. She is also class president, secretary for the Carthage FBLA chapter and a member of the Spanish club. Queen 1st Runner Up Natalie Gilliam is president of the CHS National Honor Society, competitive twirler, and member of the Royal Tigerettes who hopes to study business and finance at Mizzou. Emma Pound, Queen 2nd Runner Up, is an accomplished competitive dancer and member of the Carthage Royal Tigerettes and plans to study architecture, design and planning at the University of Kansas School of Architecture.

Ages 2-14 competed earlier in the day on Sunday the 11th. Winning in the younger contestant categories were Maple Leaf Princess Elizabeth Blankenship, Junior Miss Addison Landberg, Little Mister Landyn Livingston, Little Miss Gabrielle Alberty.

Maple Leaf royalty has become a wonderfully integral part of the Maple Leaf festival appearing at many of the week’s events as host and hostesses and will be featured in the Maple Leaf Parade this Saturday. The 49th annual Maple Leaf parade will be broadcast live on KSN 16-TV and rebroadcast again on Thanksgiving morning.
