Joplin Blasters Make Off-Season Moves

The Joplin Blasters have acquired outfielder Jason Martin and pitcher Alex Koronis from the Amarillo Thunderheads.

Jason Martin has been the premier defensive center fielder in the American Association over the past two seasons.  The 27 year old product of San Jose State University has amassed a .294 average with 51 stolen bases and 22 home runs in his professional career.  “I have watched Jason play and played against him over the past three years.  His knack for incredible defensive plays and ability with the bat make him a key addition to the 2016 roster.  Jason will join Tucker White, Oscar Mesa, Steven Tinoco, and Jesus Solorzano in what I believe will be the best defensive outfield in the American Association,” said Joplin Blasters CEO Gabriel Suarez.

Also joining the Blasters from Amarillo for their second season is the starting right handed pitcher Alex Koronis.  Alex pitched for the University of Miami and University of Tampa before being drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 11th round of the 2009 MLB draft.  He pitched with Tampa for four years before moving to the Wichita Wingnuts and then Amarillo Thunderheads.

The Joplin Blasters start their 2nd season in the South division of the American Association of Professional Baseball in May 2016.  They will play 50 of their 100 games at Joe Becker Stadium.  For 2016 season tickets call (417) 622-4838 or visit the Blasters’ offices Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. located at 131 South High Avenue in Joplin, Missouri.
