Whetstone, Graves Earn Conference VB Recognition

Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior blockersCallie Whetstone and Payton Graves were both named All-MIAA selections today as the league announced its post season awards. 

Whetstone ranked 38th nationally this year in blocks per set, while ranking 65th nationally in total blocks. She ranked second in the MIAA in both blocks per set and total blocks. Whetstone averaged 2.03 kills per set, while averaging 1.11 blocks per set. She finished her career with 405 total blocks and 343 block assists. The 343 assists is number one all-time in MSSU history, while her 405 total blocks rank fourth all time. It's the most blocks in a career for a Lion since 1997. 

Graves ranked 8th in the MIAA in hitting percentage, leading the Lions with a .301 attack average. he averaged 2.19 kills per set and 0.74 blocks per set. She finished her career with 575 kills and 229 total blocks. 

Central Missouri's Carly Sojka was named the MIAA Player of the Year, while Central Oklahoma's Taylor Bevis was named the Freshman of the Year. UCO's hea coach Edgar Miraku was named the MIAA Coach of the Year.
