Webb City farmers market starts festive shopping season

Posted: Updated:
WEBB CITY, MISSOURI -

It wasn't just food at the Webb City farmers market annual holiday market today.  There were activities, and arts and crafts, to help shoppers cross off some holiday items.

Market goers found foods, from traditional ones to be put on the table tomorrow, to other foods that might open the creative side of cooking for the holiday.

One organizer says today's farmers market, which lasted until one this afternoon, starts off more holiday events later.

"Our farmers farm year-round, so have produce year-round.  But there are also lovely things that you can buy locally that perhaps you might not have thought of, particularly from the 'Christkinklmarket.' It's always a pleasure to buy from people you know, and to support your neighbors.  And of course, it's good for the economy, too," says Eileen Nichols with the farmers market.

Nichols adds, "We'll be starting this Saturday our Christmas celebration.  So, the 'Christkinklmarket' will be decorated.  Mrs. Clause will be here, it's a fun time at the market!"

The Webb City farmers market is open Saturdays from 9 to noon.  There will be another special farmers market on Christmas Eve.
