A twenty-six year old Riverton man is dead after a hit and run crash. Marcus Bunce was killed Tuesday night as he was jogging near his home at 60th and Beasley streets.  The driver of a red Chevy truck that left the scene has been arrested and will face charges.

Bunce was a registered nurse working at Freeman Hospital.  Friends and coworkers and even families of patients praised him for his compassion and professionalism.

Friends started a gofundme page to help his family with funeral expenses and to create the Marcus A Bunce Nursing Scholarship. On it many are leaving messages of praise for Bunce including this one from Bobby Hall.  He wrote, "Marcus took care of my son yesterday evening. He showed the utmost compassion and professionalism. He provided comfort and information to my wife and son during a scary time in our lives. He was the prime example of a Great RN and person. Heaven just got a little better!"

His father’s coworkers at O and F Machine Products in Joplin, contributed saying Marcus was like one of the family after his father’s decades of service.

They say Marcus Bunce had planned to continue his education and possibly become a doctor.  Many say he was a vibrant part of the southeast Kansas community participating in music ministry at Crossroads Christian church.
