MSSU Heads to PSU for Indoor Track Opener

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern men's and women's track and field teams will be in action this weekend as the Lions open up the 2015-16 season at Pittsburg State University.

The Lions' women will send two athletes to PSU on Friday to compete in the Boo Rogers Multis. Kaylee Morgan and Allie Heckemeyer will both represent the Green and Gold as events get underway at 2 pm on Friday on Harvey Dean Track inside the Plaster Center.

The Crimson and Gold Invitational will get underway at 1 pm on Saturday with the throwing and field events, while the running events will begin at 3 pm.

The Lions' men will have All-American Jeff Fraley back for the indoor season and he will compete in the 60m and 300m dash. Warren Leak and Desmond Williams will join Fraley in the 60m, while Leak will join Fraley in the 300m and Williams will join Brandon Callicutt in the 400m. Jacob Sholl will run for the Lions in the 600m, while Ben Grant and Sam Kohrs will compete in the 800m. Eric Schott will run inthe 3k, while Sean Manhertz will compete in the 60m hurdles.

The Lions will field a 4x400m relay team, while Callicutt and Cody Vogt will compete in the high jump. Morgan Hold will be the Lions' lone competitor in the pole vault with Breydan Artis, Kennan HarrisonJourden Riley and Williams will tackle the long jump. Artis, Harrison, Riley and Jayce Thomas will compete in the triple jump, while Tyler Hovey andTanner Erhart will compete in the shot put and weight throw.

On the women's side, Victoria Foley and Katie Skelton will compete in the throws, while Morgan, Heckemeyer, Sierra Barrett and Brittani Reagan will compete in the long and triple jump. Kylee Hulsey will compete in the high jump, while Melanie Bower will be the lone entrant into the pole vault. Morgan, Rachel Ray and Soley Webb will run the hurdles, while Ray and Webb will compete in the sprints. All-American Emily Harris and Christian Provence will run the distance races for the Lions.
