Nevada PD arrests man for burglary and arson

NEVADA, MISSOURI -

Nevada Police report that they have concluded an investigation in reference to a series of suspicious fires and other related crimes that were reported at several different locations in and around Nevada.

The Nevada Police responded recently to several unoccupied structure fires and brush fires that appeared to have been deliberately set by an arsonist. Nevada Police Investigators developed information that led the police to identify a suspect.

Taken into custody on the evening of December 22nd, was a 20 year old Nevada man identified as:

Steven Gerritt Peelen

Peelen was arrested by Nevada Police Officers without incident in the 800 block of South Spring and transported to the County Jail. He has been charged by the Vernon County Associate Circuit Court with, Burglary 2nd Degree, Stealing, Knowingly Burning, and two counts of Arson 2nd Degree. Bond was set at $25,750 cash only. Members of Law Enforcement continue to follow leads in hopes of solving more cases.

In an emergency situation, individuals should not hesitate in calling 911.
