Single car crash in Newton County

A 15 year old female was killed in a single vehicle crash 2 miles east of Diamond. The accident occurred at 7:55 AM this morning. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Jacee Miksell, of Diamond, MO, was an occupant of the northbound vehicle on Pelican Road. The driver of the vehicle lost control, and ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a ditch, and overturned ejecting Miksell. She was pronounced dead at the scene. MHP did confirm that the driver was wearing a seat belt. Miksell was not wearing a safety restraint.

The driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries.
