Hunter Named Top Leader to know by Becker's Hospital Review

Mercy’s Shelly Hunter, chief financial officer, has been named by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the “130 Hospital Leaders and Health System Women in Healthcare to Know.”

Hunter was recognized based on her health care and leadership experience, continuous operational improvement and demonstrating a commitment to high-quality care.

Hunter is responsible for general accounting, patient business services, financial and statistical reporting and compliance functions at five hospitals in the Southwest Missouri-Kansas region. She has held this position for six years.

A life-long Joplin resident, Ms. Hunter is highly involved in her community, currently serving on the board of the Joplin Family Y and Bright Futures USA, as a member of the Joplin Rotary and a volunteer ally for the Circles organization, in addition to other past volunteer efforts.

Ms. Hunter has an MBA from Pittsburg State University.
