McDonald County Sheriff's Office performs Alcohol Compliance Check

On Friday, January 22, 2016, the McDonald County Sheriff's Office conducted an Alcohol Compliance Check involving 17 vendors located in various areas of the county.  The operation was in accordance with approved protocols, which included the use of minor "buyers".  According to guidelines, the minors each demonstrated a youthful appearance (if male, no facial hair of any type); used their own identification; and did not misrepresent themselves in any manner nor attempt to deceive the business or clerk.

Alcohol purchases were attempted at a total of seventeen (17) outlets.  Of that number, six (6) outlets sold to the minor purchaser.  The details follow:

The Businesses that DID NOT sell alcohol to a minor was:

  • Discount Smokes and Liquor
  • Stateline Store (Old Jugstore)
  • Macadoodles
  • Walmart
  • Dollar General - Pineville
  • The Beer Store
  • Country Market
  • Pit Stop
  • Dollar General - Anderson
  • Casey's - Goodman
  • Dollar General - Goodman

The Businesses that DID sell to a minor:

  • Mr. C's
  • Casey's - Anderson
  • Town and Country
  • Stangs
  • Goodman Minimart
  • Goodman Liquor


The clerks that sold the alcohol to a minor were issued a summons to court.  The clerks/businesses that did not sell were given a thank you letter from Sheriff Hall and Prosecuting Attorney Dobbs expressing thanks for their efforts to ID minors.  

The Sheriffs' Office would also like to thank the Pineville Marshal's Office, Anderson Police Department, and Goodman Police Departments for helping with the checks in their cities.  

The McDonald County Coalition has been providing free training for retailers here in McDonald County for the past couple of years and will be providing training again soon here in McDonald County.
