Pittsburg Police Department want to remind citizens of credit/debit card fraud prevention

Updated:
PITTSBURG, KANSAS -

The Pittsburg Police Department has recently received several reports from local residents regarding their credit and debit cards being compromised by fraudsters. Account information from the financial cards is being fraudulently used to purchase items in different locations throughout the nation.

Residents should remain vigilant in their detection of fraud by saving receipts, reviewing monthly statements and reporting any questionable charges to the card issuer. More information about protection against credit / debit card fraud may be found at the Federal Trade Commission’s website, https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0216-protecting-against-credit-card-fraud.

If a credit/debit card becomes compromised you should immediately notify the card issuer.

The investigation into these incidents is ongoing at this time, and anyone having information related to these incidents is urged to contact the Pittsburg Police Department at (620) 231-1700, or at our tip line, (620) 231-TIPS.
