Two Killed in Crash on Highway 69

CRAWFORD COUNTY, KANSAS -

Update 2/29: Two men were killed in a two-vehicle crash 6 miles north of Arma, KS. The accident occurred at 5:45 PM yesterday (February 28th). According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Derek Curtis Brumbaugh, of Pittsburg, KS, was driving his vehicle #1 southbound on US 69. David Glen Kessler, of Kearney, MO, was driving vehicle #2 northbound on US 69.  Vehicle #1 crossed the center line and struck vehicle #2. Brumbaugh and Kessler injuries were fatal. Brumbaugh, 17, and Aspen Rose Lloyd, 16, were wearing safety restraints. Kessler was not wearing his safety restraint. Next of kin were notified for all three people. 

Lloyd was injured and taken to the hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Pittsburg School Officials have confirmed that a student, Derek Brumbaugh, was killed in an accident this evening. Counselors will be available to students tomorrow.

The Kansas Highway Patrol confirms two people are dead after a crash Sunday evening on Highway 69.  The crash occurred near Arcadia, Kansas.

Details are limited at this time but KOAM crews are on the scene and we will update the story when more is known.
