Shooting in Parsons, KS; Injuries Not Life Threatening

On March 13, 2016 at approximately 8:47 PM officers were dispatched to the area of Washington School 2631 Stevens after receiving a 911 call that a person had been shot.  Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim, a juvenile from Parsons, and numerous other individuals in the area.

During the course of the investigation officers learned that the suspect, using a handgun, shot the victim.  The victim did not receive life threatening injuries but suspected two gunshot wounds during the incident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

A thorough investigation was conduction and a person of interest was identified.   Later in the night the suspect, a juvenile from Erie, was taken into custody.  The juvenile is being held on suspicion of attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, criminal use of a weapon, and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Due to both, the victim and suspect, being juveniles the names and ages of the victim and suspect will not be released.
