Barton County Sheriff's Office and Lamar Police Department Investigating Credit Card Skimmer

Updated:
LAMAR, MISSOURI -

The Barton County Sheriff's Office and the Lamar Police Department are investigating a case regarding a credit card skimmer being used in the Lamar area. Authorities said a skimmer was found by a customer at the LBT ATM machine near the Dairy Queen in Lamar. Officials said they have the skimmer in their position at this time and any personal information obtained by the device is not at risk. The Sheriff's Office is asking residents to be aware and keep an eye out for credit card skimmers when using an ATM. For more information you can contact the Barton County Sheriff's Office at (417) 682-5541.

This morning at 9:20 AM, a customer noticed a "skimmer" device on our ATM outside of Lamar Travel Plaza. We have video of an individual putting the device on only 18 minutes prior to when it was discovered. In that 18 minutes only one customer used the ATM. Because of the quick action no customer information was compromised. The video has been turned over to the authorities.
