Joplin Resident Sentenced for Child Endangerment

Update: Freddy Diaz had a plea hearing Tuesday where he plead guilty to lesser charge of child endangerment.  He was originally charged with 1st degree Statutory Sodomy and Child Molestation.  He was sentenced to 7 years DOC.  Judge says sentence will run concurrent with Jasper County drug charge.  Diaz was on probation for drug charge when he was arrest for abuse.

October 8, 2015: A Joplin resident is in custody following an investigation by Sheriff's Office Detectives of allegations of sexual assault that took place in the Walker area. According to Sheriff's Office Officials, a warrant for the arrest of Freddy T Diaz, 28 of Joplin was issued by the 28th Judicial Circuit Court on October 6, 2015 charging Diaz with Statutory Sodomy - 1st Degree - Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person less than 14 years old, and Child Molestation - 1st Degree. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, Diaz was taken into custody in Webb City on Wednesday and then transported to the Vernon County Jail. Sheriff Mosher said he could not release any other details of the incident at this time but said Diaz was being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Republican Gov. Mike Parson has named state Treasurer Eric Schmitt to replace Sen.-elect as Missouri's attorney general. Parson appointed the 43-year-old Republican on Tuesday. The attorney general's seat will be open once Hawley joins the U.S. Senate in January. Hawley unseated Democratic Sen.
