A woman is recovering after being stranded in Shoal Creek for several hours. We don't know all the details right now, but a Newton County deputy tells us a group that included three males and a female were floating on Shoal Creek, when the woman got stuck in some brush.
The rest of the group managed to free her, but then she got caught in brush again. This time she was separated from her group.
She ended up being found by another group of floaters, but not after several hours passed. Officials say she was in the water from 11:30 this morning until 4 this evening.
"She was found by a group of floaters shortly, I'd say about an hour later she was sitting on the side of the creek. They had picked her up and brought her down where they met Newton County search and rescue just upstream from Riverside Campground," says Chad Duehring with the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
The woman and members of the rest of this group are from Miami, Oklahoma. The woman was taken to a hospital for further treatment; a condition is unknown. However, emergency responders tell us a non-emergency call was dispatched for her transport.
