Public comment period opens for JATSO agenda items; Meeting set for June 23

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

There will be a public meeting of the Joplin Area Transportation Study Organization (JATSO) Policy Board at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 in the Joplin City Hall 5th Floor Study, 602 South Main Street, Joplin, Missouri.  Items that will be discussed include the review and adoption of the first amendment to the 2016-2019 Transportation Improvement Program, which includes thirty-eight (38) new projects; the second amendment to the 2016 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), which includes a City of Joplin Zoning Code Update and Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan Update; and the review and approval of the Four States’ Clean Air Alliance Path Forward document required by the Ozone Advance Program.

The TIP contains transportation and transit projects in the Joplin Metropolitan Area that are partially funded by Federal transportation programs over the next four year period. The UPWP contains administrative projects that receive federal funds for transportation planning. The public comment period for both the TIP amendments and the UPWP begins June 15th and will extend through the meeting on June 23rd. They can be viewed at jatso.net.

The Ozone Advance Program is a collaborative effort by the EPA, states, tribes, and local governments to encourage emission reductions in attainment areas, to help them continue to meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone and fine particles.

This public notice, public involvement activities, and time established for public review and comments on the TIP will satisfy the FTA Section 5307 Program of Projects requirements for Metro Area Publictransit System (MAPS).
