Newton and McDonald Counties Food Uncertainty Rate Among Missouri's Highest

MCDONALD COUNTY, MISSOURI -

     According to a recent report Newton and McDonald Counties are atop the Missouri state average poverty rates in most categories for 2016. In the category of food uncertainty Newton County has 21.6% of people under the age of 18 without access to enough food. Even higher, McDonald County came in at 24.5%. To put that into perspective the Missouri state average is less than 21%. The Crosslines of McDonald County Food Pantry is the only food pantry in the county that is backed by government funding. According to Crosslines officials it's getting harder to keep up.
