JOPLIN, MISSOURI -
"Pokemon Go" is the new trend. It's a scavenger hunt-like app that has been downloaded by millions of smartphones. It allows people to virtually catch Pokemon by finding a beacon around their neighborhood and town. Many are glad the game encourages them to get on their feet, out the door, and meeting new people. The app connects to your mobile device's GPS. Because of that people are being required to get up and walk around in order to play. In addition to the exercise a Pokemon trainer in Joplin says another upside to this app is that it allows people a different platform to come together when otherwise they might not.
