CJ Middle School Archery Participate In World Tournament

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

The Carl Junction Middle School (CJMS) Archery Team, in only its second year, made quite a showing for Southwest Missouri last month. The team, which consists of sixth, seventh and eighth graders, earned their way to take part in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) World Tournament, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Locally, the middle school team began competing in tournaments in January and was consistently placing archers in the top three positions. In February, the team placed second out of nine teams at the Southwest Missouri Regional Tournament and continued to advance to the state tournament. The CJMS Archery Team continued their journey from state, to nationals, and finally the world tournament. The team finished 34 out of 79 teams in the competition.

CJMS Volunteer Coach Tami Fredrickson, said, “None of these amazing endeavors would be possible without our community and the businesses that see value in the National Archery in the Schools Programs.”

In an effort to support the CJMS Archery Team in its travels to the world tournament, TAMKO made a donation of $2,500 to the team. Fredrickson added, “The dedication and hard work the children have given taught them lessons about believing in themselves, setting and reaching goals, the value of a team and how to win and lose gracefully. We sincerely thank TAMKO for helping this team reach their goals.”

TAMKO’s CEO and President, David Humphreys, said, “It’s a joy to see local teams rising to this impressive level of competition. TAMKO has always been a big supporter of local youth and their sports teams. This donation is a reflection of our continued commitment to our local community and youth.”
