Carthage Schools Introduce High-Impact Classrooms That Can Withstand EF-5 Tornadoes

Updated:
CARTHAGE, MISSOURI -

Carthage elementary schools introduce new storm shelter classrooms to students and faculty. The shelters are each more than 3,500 sq. ft. and are individually tailored to each school based on classroom needs. Each of the 5 Carthage elementary schools now has one of these $750,000 shelters. But for Steadley, Fairview, and Columbian schools the projects have just been completed. Carthage special ed teacher Judy Lucas says even in the event of a tornado she'll have a sense of security.
